Dhaka stocks rise on bankers' assurance


The stock skyrocketed by 5.44 per cent as on October 20,2011, capital markets and investment in distressed by the bankers came up with increasing assurance. DGEN, the Dhaka Stock Exchange's general index, up sharply by 286.28 points to 5,544.75 points, a few days off, such as institutional investors became active when the retail investors to purchase shares of a break in a lot of panic selling. BDT402.16 crore turnover from the overseas shares of BDT 277.71 million from the previous session rose.

DSE gives nod to IPO prospectuses of Westin, BSSC, Padma Life


The Dhaka Stock Exchange on Sunday gave nod to prospectuses of initial public offerings of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Unique Hotel and Resorts Ltd and Padma Life Insurance Company.
The bourse’s board will now forward its recommendations in favour of the prospectuses of the three companies to the Securities and Exchange Commission for approval, DSE sources said.
The state-run submarinecable company will float 3.10 crore ordinary shares of Tk 10 each at an offer price of Tk 35 including Tk 25 premium, using the fixed price method.

Sale of Bangladesh Fund units begins today

The much-awaited Bangladesh Fund, the country's largest ever open-ended mutual fund, is going to start its unit sale operation from today (Monday).
The officials of the state-owned Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), the leading sponsor of the Fund, said Finance Minister AMA Muhith will formally inaugurate the sale operation of the units of Tk 50 billion Bangladesh Fund at a city hotel at 4pm today.

SEC alters mutual fund rules

An individual investor will be allowed to receive up to Tk 1 crore units of a mutual fund in pre-IPO placement, an official said yesterday.
The Securities and Exchange Commission approved an amendment to the Mutual Fund Rules 2001 at a meeting with SEC Chairman Prof M Khairul Hossain in the chair.

Investment cap for mutual funds goes

The Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday decided to let mutual funds invest in securities freely, in a move that will increase the flow of funds to the cash-strapped stock market.
“The SEC has lifted the investment ceiling for mutual funds as they urged the regulator to do so,” said Saifur Rahman, an executive director of SEC.

Beximco to issue $350m bonds

Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd (Beximco) approved issuance of up to $350 million foreign currency convertible bonds on Thursday.
The shareholders of the company unanimously took the decision in an extra ordinary general meeting (EGM) at Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur. The terms and conditions such as coupon rate and conversion price will be fixed at the time of issuance by the company’s board of directors.

He has joined the DSE as a nominated Director approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Salman F Rahman’s elder brother Sohel F Rahman was earlier in his position on behalf of the Beximco Group.
