DSE seeks JS body intervention

FE Report
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has sought Parliamentary Standing Committee intervention to ease current liquidity crisis of the stock market. The board of directors of DSE made the call Wednesday while called on Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry AHM Mostafa Kamal.
DSE Senior Vice President Ahsnul Islam Titu said at present liquidity crisis is the biggest problem for the capital market. If we want to bring back stability in the stock market it would be the biggest challenge to ease liquidity crisis, he mentioned.
"Banks and their subsidiaries are in tremendous pressure following Bangladesh Bank's circular on exposure of banks in the capital market. Statistics showed banks don't have enough liquidity to make investment in the capital market," he added.
"Policymakers need to understand the situation and accordingly we have sought intervention of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Bangladesh Bank policy."
