The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will get its new chairman next week, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said on 12 May.
The Minister earlier had said to SEC reform process was announced but could not be done in time."It couldn’t be done as I was abroad and so was the Prime Minister. Now I’m back and the new chairman will be appointed before the departure of the Prime Minister (for Geneva) on 15 May, “he told.
The overhauling of the share market regulator has begun and one member has been appointed, while two members have resigned, he added. Earlier in the day, banks and financial institution division secretary Shafiqur Rahman Patwari said the SEC would get its new chairman 'soon'.
